Little Boots — “Stuck On Repeat (Fake Blood Remix)” — Infinity + 1

Question prompted by all the meta dance tracks out there: are we that enslaved by the groove?  Little Boots’ predicament speaks more to the technological aspect—skipping CDs, scratched records, uncooperative iPods—than the expected turntablist loops and blacklit builds it draws on, giving “Stuck On Repeat” perhaps an extra velcro-strap’s worth of friction.  But what makes these songs so likable is exactly that thematic elasticity. “I don’t remember how it started / And I don’t know how to stop,” Little Boots’ tells us, “But every time I hit the bottom / Something pulls me right back to the top.”  All routine is an addiction.  All habit is unstoppable rhythm.  And the beat, cyclical bitch, goes on till dawn.
