“Go big or go home” is a de facto anthem for the anthemically damaged Mew, a stadium-sized Danish act whose No More Stories… EP is spangled with the usual proggy arpeggios, ionospheric falsetto and other weirdnesses. “Repeaterbeater” goes from vicious, Muse-like indie metal to angular and lasery space-pop in the space of forty-five seconds but doesn’t quite tap the ecstatic highs of surrealist predecessor And The Glass-Handed Kites. Of course, this release is also a pre-gamer for an upcoming LP, so here’s hoping it’s more of a tease than an outright spoiler. What’s that, you say? “Repeaterbeater” is one of the LP tracks as well? Oh, shut up.
