Flying Saucer Attack — “Coming Home” — Coming Home / Hope 7”

Dude. Dude! Duuuude. And then it’s over, the afterburners spent, an incendiary melody branded on brain. I’ve resisted putting up anything too shoegazey until now, principally because my musical treatises inevitably expose my addiction to the style and become haywire arguments about Loveless being the apex of sound—not just music, but sound, man—and wouldn’t be nice if I didn’t digress in dizzying spirals? Flying Saucer Attack is an act I was slow to find despite the fact that all roads lead to their front porch. And while the mid-90s mostly saw these tropes reaching their illogical conclusion in prettified, emotion-dead haze without hooks, FSA brought back the bruising monolith. The almost-pauses and dueling guitars are standards, if expertly done, but I imagine this drummer ended up in rehab for cymbal abuse.
